Men’s soccer set up perfectly for postseason
Lipscomb’s men’s soccer team has been the talk of the town, and rightfully so considering the success they have had so far this season. The Bisons blaze into the postseason at the top of the ASUN Conference and will be the host site for every match they play, beginning with the semifinal Monday. Not only have they dominated the conference, but they are taking the NCAA national rankings by storm. Volleyball suffers another straight-set loss
The Lipscomb volleyball team suffered their second loss at home to ASUN competition as they lost to Jacksonville State in three sets. The Bisons lost the first set 25-22 after a back-and-forth set where the Gamecocks were able to prevail. The second set was a similar story as Jacksonville State took a 6-0 scoring-run after the Bisons earned the first two points. A comeback attempt by the Bisons was not enough as they lost the second set 25-19. Freshman DiVita sits at center of volleyball’s future
As just a freshman, Jada DiVita has already cemented herself as a key piece of Brandon Rosenthal’s team for years to come. DiVita isn’t new to early success, though. The Michigan native was a four-year starter at Grosse Point South High School and was named all district along with all region throughout all four seasons of her high school career. DiVita was also part of four district championship teams throughout her high career. The talented freshman has been around sports for her entire life. Murr makes new legacy after high school stardom
Tommy Murr routinely walks through Lipscomb’s campus as just another normal guy, in and out of Bennett Campus center without being stopped for a picture or an autograph. He walks into the practice facility where he’s just another one of the guys. Life wasn’t always that simple for the Alabama native, though. Three takes from basketball exhibition victory
After nearly an eight month hiatus, basketball returned to Allen Arena on Monday night. Lipscomb women’s basketball unofficially opened their season Monday night against Blue Mountain College, a NAIA team that surprisingly took the Bisons to the wire. Although the game does not officially count on either team’s record, it certainly wasn’t uneventful; the Bisons’ preseason debut consisted of a 10 minute scoreboard delay and a pressure-filled finish. An opposing team is pushing its way on the attack. They have beaten the defense, and the last thing that stands between them and a goal is Lipscomb’s keen goalkeeper, CJ Graham. More often than not, that ball won’t find the back of the net. The 5’8 redshirt sophomore has been a force all season long, and her story begins 15 minutes outside of Asheville in her hometown of Swannanoa, North Carolina. Transfer portal provides plethora of players
For those who follow athletics, the transfer portal has recently become a well-known phrase. Brought to life in October 2018, the newly-instated NCAA rule allows college athletes to place their name into a “portal” which allows athletes to transfer to a new school and athletics program. This process of using the portal has become wildly popular to the tune of over 9,000 students entering the portal last year alone, causing a variety of effects on college athletics.
