The hardwood is once again alive as the Lipscomb University Men’s Basketball Team embarks on a new season. With high hopes, formidable talent, and a hunger for success, the team has set their sights on making this season a memorable one. After falling short to Kennesaw State in last year’s ASUN tournament, the hunger for not only revenge but a championship is fueling this team. The Bisons are currently 6-3, still staying undefeated at home after trouncing The University of Tennessee Chattanooga on November 29th. The 150th Battle of the Boulevard
The Battle of the Boulevard is upon us once again. After last year, and the way it ended in such dramatic fashion, with Jacob Ognacevic hitting the game winner in the final seconds, the stakes are higher than ever. This rivalry is iconic in college basketball. Two programs. One street. Lipscomb currently leads in the all time record with 77 wins while Belmont has 73 Last year was a battle for the ages. 16 lead changes throughout the whole game and some very clutch performances by multiple players. Men’s Soccer wins its third straight ASUN conference tournament championship
Lipscomb University men’s soccer won its third straight ASUN Championship Saturday, defeating Bellarmine 1-0. The Bisons were charging early, but it was not easy. Excellent goal protection by Bellarmine’s Lukas Tharp prevented a set of goals early from Malachi Jones. That included a saved penalty kick by Tharp to keep the Bisons from catching an early lead. Solid defending by Lipscomb set them up to take a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute. Jones was able to find Javanne Smith, who then flicked it into the net. In the 75th minute, the Bisons found trouble. SGA has goal of creating bright campus
One initiative of this year’s Student Government Association is student safety. President Janeyah Anderson said the SGA is looking to enhance the student experience. “We have been working pretty hard to figure out ways that we can accommodate the feeling of safety on Lipscomb’s campus,” Anderson said. “We have been focusing primarily on lighting.” Lipscomb’s campus never closes during the school year. With about 2,500 students living on campus, they often walk across campus from building to building at night. Commuter students find themselves in this situation the most. Staying late with friends, studying or attending class requires them to walk back to their cars at night. …

Does your phone ring in class? – FEMA testing the Emergency Alert System
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be partnering with the Federal Communications commission to conduct a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). There will be 2 parts of the test. The first part will be testing the Emergency Alert System, and the second part will test the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA). Both tests will begin at approximately 1:20 CT on Wednesday, Oct. 4th. What does this mean for you? The WEA portion of the test will send an alert to all cellular devices. A Lipscomb pep band comeback?
The atmosphere in Allen Arena is about to change drastically. According to Landon Parrish, Special Assistant to President McQueen, Lipscomb University will have a full-fledged band playing at every basketball game this year. Parrish says, “Without a band, Allen arena just feels empty during games. You can fill dead air during timeouts and transitions with piped-in music from a computer along with the cheer team, but there’s just something missing.” This wouldn’t be the first time Allen Arena’s court is met with live music. One of the most notable things when coming back after the long summer break is how many new faces you see around campus. And in 2023 this has become even more apparent. This is the largest incoming class of freshmen and transfers than ever before. So let’s take a closer look at some of the numbers from Lipscomb’s newest class of students. A total of 893 NEW undergraduate students, including freshmen, transfers, and new online students have enrolled for the 2023 Fall semester. There’s many traditions to a sporting event that just wouldn’t feel the same if they weren’t there. Remember when there were no fans at the games during COVID? Even though the action on the field, court, or pitch remained the same, the atmosphere of these games was’t the same compared to what we are used to.
