SOUTH BEND, Indiana – Following an emotional, hard-fought 77-75 win on Monday night against Belmont in the Battle of the Boulevard at Allen Arena, the Lipscomb Bisons fell 66-65 to their ACC foe, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana. Boulevard Breakthrough: Behind the scenes of the Bisons’ long-awaited win
Last night, the Lipscomb Bisons faced off against the Belmont Bruins in the historic men’s basketball Battle of the Boulevard. The Bisons lost to the Bruins in 2021. Students across Lipscomb’s campus were hoping for a different outcome this year. And if not that, then at least a closer game. The Bisons, however, did not disappoint.

A night in which Jacob Ognacevic started as Lipscomb’s sixth man ended with him as the hero, capping off a magical night by sending Lipscomb’s student section onto the court to Prince’s “Purple Rain” with a game-winning layup. Women’s basketball powers past Delta Devilettes
The Lipscomb Women’s Basketball Team defeated the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils by a final score of 67-45 Monday evening. Aleah Sorentino, a redshirt sophomore transfer from Ole Miss, started the first quarter off strong with six points after making three of her first four shots. Sorrentino would score on a layup to take a 13-7 Bisons lead at the end of the quarter. Both teams struggled with turnovers in the second quarter, and the Bisons were unable to separate themselves from the Delta Devils. Men’s basketball overwhelms opponents in home opener
NASHVILLE, Tennessee – For the first time in 2022-23, the Lipscomb men’s basketball team took the floor in front of the Allen Arena crowd. Coach Lennie Acuff’s team certainly did not disappoint the homecoming weekend crowd with their 107-54 win over the Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg Pioneers. The Bisons showed their hand early, they were going to be aggressive on both ends. That aggressiveness resulted in five Campbellsville-Harrodsburg turnovers before the 15 minute mark, and a 15-11 Lipscomb lead heading into the second media timeout. Women’s basketball rolls to first home win
NASHVILLE, Tennessee – After two competitive outings full of promise and missed opportunities, Lipscomb women’s basketball walked off the Allen Arena floor with a win for the first time of the 2022-2023 season in an 81-54 victory against the Wilberforce Bulldogs. The Bisons were led by three double-figure scorers including Jayln Holcomb, who led all scorers with 25 points. Ole Miss transfer, Alleah Sorrentino, also added 17 points in a performance that included her first career double-double. Basketball drops Thursday night three-OT thriller
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Kentucky – For the first time since February 10, 2005, a Lipscomb women’s basketball game lasted for at least three overtimes. Just like that fourth-overtime decision in DeLand, Florida, the Bisons came up short. After 55 minutes of basketball, the visitors dropped their second game of the season to the Northern Kentucky Norse by a whopping 101-95 final score. A sparsely-populated Truist Arena, which seats nearly 10,000 fans at its capacity, was treated to the best game of basketball in either team’s recent memory. Men’s basketball sputters in opening night loss
Lipscomb’s opening-night affair against the South Dakota Coyotes started as one of immense promise, but ended with a dejected Bisons team walking off the floor of the Sanford Coyote Sports Center after a 85-77 loss at the hands of the Coyotes. The Bisons were led by a 20-point outing by junior guard Will Pruitt and an 18 point showing by sophomore forward Jacob Ognacevic. Head coach Lennie Acuff’s team shot 45.2% from the field, 38.5% from the 3-point line while the Coyotes shot 49% total and 55% from 3-point range. FORT WORTH, Texas – College basketball is upon us, and the Lipscomb women’s basketball team made their season debut Monday in Fort Worth, Texas, against TCU. In a hard-fought effort against a fierce Horned Frogs team, Lipscomb fell 69-62 to their Big 12 opponents at Schollmaier Arena. “I think we fought hard, but there is obviously a lot of things we need to improve in practice”, senior wing Jalyn Holcomb said.
