Republished from Lumination Network, March 23, 2022. For the first time since the start of the pandemic, Singarama will be held in person, in Collin Alumni Auditorium, March 24-26. The 59th Annual Singarama event had looked different the last two years. The pandemic halted the 2020 competition, and last year’s event was held without an in-person audience. The event is back in full force this year with the theme being Story-time. Shawna Mann is a communications major from Florida and is one of the four hosts of this year’s Singarama.“I am most excited for Collin to be back with people, it’s been three years since I’ve performed because of COVID and…

Academy football defeats CPA in BlueCross Bowl, claims state title
Republished from Lumination Network, Dec. 2, 2021. CHATTANOOGA – The Lipscomb Academy varsity football team won the BlueCross Bowl Division II-AA Tennessee State Championship over the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions 27-0 Thursday morning at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. Senior quarterback Luther Richesson led the Mustangs to their first Division II-AA state title, going 16-for-18 in the air for 147 yards, a touchdown and an interception. A matchup rich with storylines brought together two teams with revenge on their minds: after CPA took down Lipscomb in last year’s state championship game, Lipscomb punished the Lions at home in a 38-0 drubbing to win the regular season title. This time around, it was…

Candice McQueen speaks on her goals as she prepares to take over as Lipscomb president
Republished from Lumination Network, Aug. 23, 2021. As of September, McQueen will be tackling a new role at Lipscomb, that of the president. “When…

LeBron Hill reveals experience of living in homeless shelter during holiday season
Republished from Lumination Network, Nov. 19, 2017. With the holidays coming up, people will often spend some time giving back; one of the most popular ways to do this is by volunteering at a homeless shelter. This time of the year brings back memories of my experience in a shelter…not working there, but living there. When I first arrived at the shelter at the age of 18, I began to fall into a depression. The cold and dark November days represented how I felt — alone and without a home. The shelter was just a house, filled with strangers who were there through a common experience of abandonment. We would spend time around…
