How to fall in love with Poindexter in less than five minutes
Republished from Coffee with a Russian, March 9, 2023. This week I went deeper into downtown of Nashville and found Poindexter — an extra-authentic coffee shop located in the lobby of Graduate hotel. Both inside and outside of the building are unique and aesthetically pleasing, like the color palette of decor inside and the lights outside. The space is full of art and various-colored furniture. My favorite part of the shop is perhaps the patterned sofas located at different levels on the steps at one side of the hall. Is it “times up” for TikTok?
In March of this year, Tennessee state lawmakers passed a bill banning the use of TikTok on wifi networks run by public universities and colleges. Republican Gov. Bill Lee is expected to sign the bill. In December, passed separate legislation to block TikTok from government-owned devices. Tennessee is one of at least 25 states to ban TikTok on government-owned devices due to fears surrounding the app being a national security threat. Lipscomb Academy performs The Little Mermaid for Spring Musical
The Lipscomb Academy theater program performed the Disney classic “The Little Mermaid” for their annual high school musical. Behind the scenes, the program navigated exciting technical challenges, new cast members and a new staff. The musical featured one of Lipscomb’s first Sophomore Leads, Charlotte Payne as Ariel, and new student Kyle Varenkamp as Prince Eric. Both thrived despite having less experience with the Lipscomb theater programs. The cast also adapted to a new Director, Christin Toole, since Lipscomb’s previous Director transferred to the university. Renovations possible for the SAC
The student athletic center, also known as the “SAC”, here at Lipscomb University has always been a staple building on campus. But, according to Kegan York, director of campus recreation, we now have more students than recreation center. “We’ve definitely outgrown our space.” Kegan York Built in 1994, the SAC didn’t have any renovations done until 2011, which moved the weight room from where the Freshens is now to where the weight room now lives.
