Bisons buoyed in advance of ASUN final
By any metric, 2022 has been a highly successful year for the Lipscomb men’s soccer program. Every individual ASUN Conference superlative award was clinched by Lipscomb personnel this season, and the Bisons finished their regular season with only two losses and two draws. In the process, the Bisons lost only one conference game and earned a 12th-place ranking nationally. The Bisons ground out a 1-0 win against FGCU this Monday to claim their spot in the ASUN Final Saturday, beating one of the two teams they had lost to during the regular season. Basketball drops Thursday night three-OT thriller
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Kentucky – For the first time since February 10, 2005, a Lipscomb women’s basketball game lasted for at least three overtimes. Just like that fourth-overtime decision in DeLand, Florida, the Bisons came up short. After 55 minutes of basketball, the visitors dropped their second game of the season to the Northern Kentucky Norse by a whopping 101-95 final score. A sparsely-populated Truist Arena, which seats nearly 10,000 fans at its capacity, was treated to the best game of basketball in either team’s recent memory. Men’s basketball sputters in opening night loss
Lipscomb’s opening-night affair against the South Dakota Coyotes started as one of immense promise, but ended with a dejected Bisons team walking off the floor of the Sanford Coyote Sports Center after a 85-77 loss at the hands of the Coyotes. The Bisons were led by a 20-point outing by junior guard Will Pruitt and an 18 point showing by sophomore forward Jacob Ognacevic. Head coach Lennie Acuff’s team shot 45.2% from the field, 38.5% from the 3-point line while the Coyotes shot 49% total and 55% from 3-point range. Lipscomb loses tough opener
FORT WORTH, Texas – College basketball is upon us, and the Lipscomb women’s basketball team made their season debut Monday in Fort Worth, Texas, against TCU. In a hard-fought effort against a fierce Horned Frogs team, Lipscomb fell 69-62 to their Big 12 opponents at Schollmaier Arena. “I think we fought hard, but there is obviously a lot of things we need to improve in practice”, senior wing Jalyn Holcomb said. Men’s soccer set up perfectly for postseason
Lipscomb’s men’s soccer team has been the talk of the town, and rightfully so considering the success they have had so far this season. The Bisons blaze into the postseason at the top of the ASUN Conference and will be the host site for every match they play, beginning with the semifinal Monday. Not only have they dominated the conference, but they are taking the NCAA national rankings by storm. Lipscomb has been ranked as high as tenth in the United Soccer Coaches poll throughout the season, and some experts have them placed at number seven in postseason projections. Volleyball suffers another straight-set loss
The Lipscomb volleyball team suffered their second loss at home to ASUN competition as they lost to Jacksonville State in three sets. The Bisons lost the first set 25-22 after a back-and-forth set where the Gamecocks were able to prevail. The second set was a similar story as Jacksonville State took a 6-0 scoring-run after the Bisons earned the first two points. A comeback attempt by the Bisons was not enough as they lost the second set 25-19. Freshman DiVita sits at center of volleyball’s future
As just a freshman, Jada DiVita has already cemented herself as a key piece of Brandon Rosenthal’s team for years to come. DiVita isn’t new to early success, though. The Michigan native was a four-year starter at Grosse Point South High School and was named all district along with all region throughout all four seasons of her high school career. DiVita was also part of four district championship teams throughout her high career. The talented freshman has been around sports for her entire life. DiVita describes her family as a hockey and volleyball family; Jada’s mom, Janeil, played college volleyball at Lake Superior State University and coached Jada for her…
