Bisons beat Bruins in new Boulevard chapter

A night in which Jacob Ognacevic started as Lipscomb’s sixth man ended with him as the hero, capping off a magical night by sending Lipscomb’s student section onto the court to Prince’s “Purple Rain” with a game-winning layup. After six painful losses in a row and 1,806 days since Lipscomb’s last victory against Belmont, Lennie Acuff and his team finally did it for the first time in his tenure, beating former Lipscomb head coach Casey Alexander’s Belmont Bruins 77-75.  The Battle of the Boulevard, one of the most anticipated rivalries in the nation, took place Monday night at Allen Arena. For the first time in seven tries, though, the result…

Parking on campus: is it as bad as you think?

    Car Being Pulled

Parking is a problem that Lipscomb University has faced since (what seems like) the beginning of time. It’s maddening. It’s frustrating. It’s… maybe not as bad as you think. There are 1,367 spots on this campus for students, including the 68 handicap-accessible spots. That number seems pretty irrelevant when it takes 20 minutes to find a parking spot on campus, but maybe we just aren’t looking in the right place.

    Winans, Wilson dominate at Doves

Lipscomb hosted the 53rd annual Dove Awards at Allen Arena Tuesday, welcoming the Gospel Music Association (GMA) and honoring its picks for the best Christian music and entertainment across various genres. Chris Tomlin and Erica Campbell were the hosts of GMA’s flagship event, while other stars such as TobyMac, Maverick City Music, and Phil Wickham graced the stage at Allen Arena during the performance. Lipscomb prepared for the event by completely transforming the Student Activities Center. Completely decked out with a red carpet, a press room, and interview booths, it was a hive of hype hardly recognizable to students.  The day started around 3:30 p.m. when artists, presenters and more…

The Well reduced to standing room only

    The Well

A newly formed band of Lipscomb freshmen took the Black River Stage by storm last Wednesday. Reducing the inside of The Well to standing room only, friends from Lipscomb and a host of others packed out the coffeeshop. The young band, known as The Jack French Trio, kept the energy high the entire night. The band rounded out their first performance together feeling “beyond cloud nine,” as later said by Jack French, the group’s leader. It was an incredible performance to witness, and despite one or two minor hiccups in the set, the band received a standing ovation and a call for an encore. The following videos allow for two…

    “What could happen to me?”

    backlit photo of student

“It was all very scary. … I don’t know where to start.” states a Lipscomb University student who found herself in a situation where she potentially violated the university’s alcohol policy. Fear and misunderstanding of the university’s alcohol policy often leads to students not wanting to participate or report other, more serious crimes. While the university has an amnesty clause in support of Title IX, this fear can lead to a complex situation. Emma Shananan reports. Written by: Emma ShanahanProduced by: Emma Shanahan & Shawna Mann
