What is it like to be a Host Family?
Every year, the Lipscomb Academy Homestay Program provides global students and host families with an experience they’ll never forget. The Homestay program gives international students an opportunity to come to Lipscomb Academy and experience life in Nashville for a semester, or a shorter amount of time depending on the student’s preference. Lipscomb families can apply to host global students and welcome them into their home as a temporary family member. Some students find the transition easy while it takes others a little longer to get used to the new environment. In senior Caroline Jackson’s case, she was able to adapt pretty quickly to having a new student live with her…

Tav Shaffer replaces Deuce Knight as the Mustang’s starting quarterback.
Lipscomb Academy lost their star quarterback, Deuce Knight, after he played three games for the Mustangs, resulting in a QB change that put Tav Shaffer on the starting offensive lineup. The Lipscomb football team dominated through the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but the 2023 season has proved challenging. Knight left his home in Mississippi, over 400 miles away from Nashville, to pursue his football career at Lipscomb. His time as a Mustang didn’t last long. He started the season with the Mustangs at the end of July, but he returned home after Lipscomb’s third game of the season. “I just wanted to get around everybody else in my family, my…

Party Pump Club Debut
LA Party Pump is the new groove at Lipscomb Academy. This new dance club will get the school moving. Members Jacqueline Hesselrode, Presley Miller, and Sydney McGaughey tell us what we can expect. Unlike many other clubs, Dance Club was a more spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment choice. Hesselrode said, “Me, Sydney, and Presley attended the YMCA to go to Zumba classes, and one day I asked Sydney if we should start a club, like a Zumba club, and she thought that was a great idea.” It didn’t take long for the faculty to approve this club and let it launch. The charter members knew they needed a sponsor, and Miranda Giles, known…

Another “stampede-like” year for sports
Another year has gone by for Bison’s basketball and soccer and it’s been a good one. Although there still are a few sports in season, or just starting their season, the school year is closing fast and it’s time to look back at how the herd handled the rest of the nation. After making it to the ASUN conference playoffs last year, the Men’s basketball team returned once again. The guys didn’t play as well as expected, bringing in a record of 20 wins and 13 losses. But, they ended conference play on a three-game win streak giving them the 5 seed in the tournament. After beating Stetson in a…

Childhood game played on Halloween
Who knew they’d meet on the campus of Lipscomb University? One from Nashville and one from Kansas. It was the chance to compete at the highest level that brought them together. And there was always a chance someone would get hurt. The childhood game traces its roots back 200 years in Africa where it was used as a method to train warriors. Today, it’s played by competitive college students who should probably know better.

The event is back in full force this year with the theme being Story-time. Shawna Mann is a communications major from Florida and is one of the four hosts of this year’s Singarama.“I am most excited for Collin to be back with people, it’s been three years since I’ve performed because of COVID and…
