    Do you follow @graciewithacamera?

Republished from Behind the Art, February 16, 2023. Gracie Hall is a 20-year-old photographer located in Nashville, Tennessee. She is from Austin, Texas, and is currently a dietetics major at Lipscomb University. The main platform she uses to display her work is on her photography Instagram page: @graciewithacamera. I met Gracie in January 2022, my freshman year of college, and was immediately drawn to her. Her style represents her personality so well and the eccentric free spirit that she is. Gracie’s ever-present smile and energetic, playful presence are like sunlight. Her energy is translated through her outlet of expression, photography, and I can say from experience she is a very fun photographer to work…

Budgeting your time: how to balance college, health and your social life

Republished from Still Life with Rose, February 22, 2023. It can be tough learning what to prioritize and balance in your life, especially in college. You want to prioritize your education, but you also want the “college experience” you have always looked forward to. It is the second semester of my freshman year of college, and I am still learning how to balance all of these things. It is different for every person, but I am sharing what I am trying to do myself. The No. 1 priority for me is my health — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc. Without good health, you cannot function the way you need to…

Comparison is killing your joy in life

Republished from Quincy Clark Hoops, March 2, 2023. A big part of life and specifically the sport of basketball is comparing people. It’s perfectly fine for others to compare you to your peers or other players. It all turns bad when you start to compare yourself to others. I’ve done it before throughout my whole career, and it has made me miserable. I was so concerned about what another player was able to do better than me that I lost sight of my own strengths. I began to play my game trying to prove I could do the same things the person I was comparing myself to could do. It…

Three incredible classics for you to give a look

Republished from Barkley’s Book Recs, March 3, 2023. What crosses your mind when someone says the word “classics”? For me, it’s books like Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jane Eyre and Moby Dick. The classics are the books you hear about all the time, that you probably read in school at least once and that your parents or grandparents probably have on their bookshelf or somewhere in their house. They’re classics for a reason, though. They have stood the test of time, and they are ridiculously good. It’s hard for me to pick my top three books or series every post, but picking my top three classics was especially so. I…

My favorite ways of staying productive throughout the day

Republished from Shear Self Care, March 1, 2023. Because we all know it’s not always as easy as it sounds. I have noticed while being in college that being busy and staying productive are not really the same thing. It is easy to fall under stress, being pulled in all different directions and not taking the time to do the things we need to do that help us also take care of ourselves as well. Make a List of Essential Things that you need to get done. I have mentioned making lists in a previous post, but I really wanted to shed light on it again in this context. At the…

    Wilmore, Kentucky’s second favorite man

Republished from The Flying Herd, March 9, 2023. Sometimes history is a strange thing. Coach Will Shouse played for Asbury University from 1998-2002. He was away from the game until 2006 when Kentucky Christian University came calling. In the 2023 Mideast Regional Semifinal, Asbury University, the team that Coach Shouse had been the head man for since 2008, was blowing out the Kentucky Christian Knights. As the final buzzer sounded, it was obvious that Coach Shouse was the best coach in this matchup.  The fact that Coach Shouse was the best coach in the matchup was a fact that was true in most games this season. Nineteen wins to six losses was a record…
