Lipscomb by the numbers: the bookstore
Though there may be less Lipscomb by the numbers throughout the summer, as students are off campus and the numbers are therefore inherently less, there will still be a few here and there. This week takes us down to the basement of the Student Center, to our beloved bookstore. The Lipscomb campus bookstore offers everything from school spirit tee shirts and hoodies to notebooks and AirPods. Rachel Measell, the campus store manager, has helped provide some numbers from the bookstore. There are, naturally, a lot of numbers involved with the bookstore. Lipscomb by the numbers – Track and field
This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers looks back at the Bisons track and field teams, who traveled to compete in two invitationals this past weekend. The men’s and women’s teams went to both Lee University, to compete in the Flames Invitational, and to Ole Miss, to compete in the Joe Walker Invite. The Bisons hit a lot of wild numbers this weekend, including winning three overall events, smashing three program records, taking eighteen top-five finishes, and snagging a good number of personal records. Freshman Brady Yingst won two events at the Joe Walker Invite, including hitting a new personal record in the men’s 3,000m Steeple, with a time of 9:01.67.…

Lipscomb by the numbers – Registration
Registration – quite possibly one of the most stress-inducing words for a college student. And now… it’s upon us. Lipscomb’s registration is set for four days this week, starting on Monday the third, and ending on Friday the seventh, skipping Wednesday the fifth. Monday is open for graduate students and seniors to register – any student with over 90 hours. Tuesday is open for the juniors at Lipscomb, who have to have between 60 and 89 hours. Thursday is for the sophomores, students with between 30 and 59 hours. And finally Friday is for freshmen, Lipscomb students with under 29 hours. Registration opens at different times too. Happy Monday! This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers will be taking a look at our baseball team. The Bisons baseball team has had a string of tough non-conference teams to play recently, leading to a series of very tough games. But you wouldn’t know that looking at our conference record, with the start of conference play two weekends ago. Those conference numbers are what we’ll be looking at today. Conference play began with an at home weekend series against Jacksonville from March 17th through March 19th. This week’s edition of Lipscomb by the numbers takes a look at none other than the campus’s WiFi. With so many students coming back to campus from break this week, and all of their devices rejoining the school’s WiFi network, the WiFi is going to be busier than it’s been in the past week. But the WiFi sees peak hours, and those are the numbers we’re going to talk about this week. There are three WiFi’s on campus: staff, student and guest. All of the peak time numbers come from IT. Lipscomb by the numbers: Lippy Lunatics trip
This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers goes back to Thursday the 2nd, when Lipscomb’s Lippy Lunatics traveled 232 miles to Kennesaw State University to support the Lipscomb Bisons men’s basketball team at the ASUN championship semifinals. Lippy Lunatics worked with Lipscomb to get two charter buses for the drive and 100 tickets to the game. They put the word out, and 66 people boarded the two 50-passenger charter buses at 11:45 in the morning on March 2nd. Together those 66 students rode for over three and a half hours on the 232 mile trip to KSU. The students packed into KSU’s Convocation Center, after out-cheering a group of KSU students…

This week with Lipscomb by the numbers we’re looking back at the university-wide Giving Day, which took place on Thursday, February 23rd. There are a lot of numbers from Giving Day, so let’s dive into some of them. Giving Day this year was a success, with over two million dollars raised. The official final number is $2,097,446. To put this into perspective, the highest Lipscomb has raised in the past was $2,330,643 during former Lipscomb President Willard Collins’s “Million Dollar Day” in 1985. Lipscomb by the numbers: Baseball victories
This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers looks back at this past weekend, at Ken Dugan Field. On Friday the 17th, the Lipscomb Bisons baseball team faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the first time. The odds that the Bisons would beat the Irish were about twelve percent, some said. Despite the odds, the Bisons went on to beat the Irish, five runs to four. The Bisons played in not just 35 degrees – that felt like about 22 degrees until the sun finally came out about two hours into the game – but they played in snow. Lipscomb by the numbers: Beaman Library
This week Lipscomb by the numbers heads over to Beaman Library. The library sees a lot of traffic each semester. Students pick up and check out books for classes, books for research, and books for fun. Herd Media went to the library to see just how many books that is. Last semester, students checked out 1,297 books and read or downloaded 3,295 ebooks. The numbers are already rising this semester, despite being only a month into it. So far this semester, people have checked out 193 books. They’ve also read or downloaded 389 ebooks so far. With access to thousands of print books, ebooks, and articles, the library is the…
