Forrest Maners is a senior sports media major from Jackson, Tennessee. He enjoys photography, video, and sports writing. Besides being a student, Forrest spends time as a student assistant for Lipscomb Baseball. Some of his best accomplishments come from being the Media Ministry Intern at his home church. He developed a broadcast system, podcast studio, and various types of social media content. Forrest hopes that someday he will be working for a professional sports team.

    The ASUN Conference Tournament quarterfinal clash at Allen Arena unfolded in a frenzy of last-second efforts, leaving the Bisons stunned and the Lions victorious with a narrow 77-75 victory. The term March Madness holds true.     Bison Triumph: Thrilling buzzer-beater caps Star Wars night victory over Jacksonville Dolphins

    The Bisons win at the Buzzer with free throws by Derrin Boyd in a thrilling 84-82 victory over the Dolphins of Jacksonville. Will Pruit was by far the player of the game with 19 points, 8 rebounds and finished 4-5 from three-point land. Boyd was just as steady with quite 24 points.   Fans enjoyed a Star Wars themed game, nothing short of spectacular. There were several Star Wars characters in Allen Arena Circle for fans to meet.     Lipscomb Bisons’ late run seals victory in gritty battle against TSU Tigers

    The Bisons come into this game after an emotional 72-71 loss against rival Belmont. Today’s game was not much different. The Bisons took the win within the final minutes of the game thanks to Will Pruit and Joe Anderson’s stellar performance.   Tennessee State asserted their dominance early. The Tigers were very physical and pushed the ball well in transition early. This sped up Lipscomb and forced turnovers. The Tigers forced 10 turnovers and scored 11 points because of that.     Three-point barrage and bench brilliance: Lipscomb Lady Bisons dominate Johnson (Tenn.)

    The Lady Bisons (6-3) dominated Johnson (Tenn)(7-6) 85-49 on a slow Sunday afternoon for the Lady Bisons. Three-point shooting, and bench depth were major factors in today’s victory.   It was over before it even started. The Lady Bisons dominated Johnson (Tenn.) from the start. The Royals could not defend Lipscomb’s 11 three pointers in the first half. This gave the Bisons the ability to go a little deeper into their roster than normal with 22 bench points in the first half. It wasn’t just offense that was clicking for Lipscomb.     Comeback Queens: Lady Bisons battle back for thrilling 77-73 victory against Morehead State

    The Lady Bisons struggled in the first quarter against a solid Morehead State defense. The Beakers found the three-pointer early and often, jumping to an 11-0 lead before the Bisons were forced to call a timeout. Lipscomb’s Molly Heard eventually found the team’s first points of the game 4 minutes into the first quarter. Heard was the only scoring Bison in the first quarter with 5 points.

    Men’s Soccer wins its third straight ASUN conference tournament championship 

    Lipscomb University men’s soccer won its third straight ASUN Championship Saturday, defeating Bellarmine 1-0.   The Bisons were charging early, but it was not easy. Excellent goal protection by Bellarmine’s Lukas Tharp prevented a set of goals early from Malachi Jones. That included a saved penalty kick by Tharp to keep the Bisons from catching an early lead.  Solid defending by Lipscomb set them up to take a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute. Jones was able to find Javanne Smith, who then flicked it into the net.   In the 75th minute, the Bisons found trouble.     SGA has goal of creating bright campus

    One initiative of this year’s Student Government Association is student safety. President Janeyah Anderson said the SGA is looking to enhance the student experience.   “We have been working pretty hard to figure out ways that we can accommodate the feeling of safety on Lipscomb’s campus,” Anderson said. “We have been focusing primarily on lighting.” Lipscomb’s campus never closes during the school year. With about 2,500 students living on campus, they often walk across campus from building to building at night.   Commuter students find themselves in this situation the most. Staying late with friends, studying or attending class requires them to walk back to their cars at night.  …

    Does your phone ring in class? – FEMA testing the Emergency Alert System

    The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be partnering with the Federal Communications commission to conduct a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS).   There will be 2 parts of the test. The first part will be testing the Emergency Alert System, and the second part will test the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA).   Both tests will begin at approximately 1:20 CT on Wednesday, Oct. 4th.   What does this mean for you? The WEA portion of the test will send an alert to all cellular devices. While the EAS portion will be sending messages to radios and televisions.   FEMA and the FCC are coordinating with participants, wireless providers, and emergency managers…
