Worship at the Round
Lipscomb students gathered in Shamblin Theater for a campus-wide worship night, praising God and serving each other by leading worship and praying together. The worship night was called Worship at the Round since the worship team stood at the center of the room instead of the stage, and it was held on October 20, 2024. Alpha Delta hosts student-faculty tournament court to build wells in Zimbabwe
Have you ever sat in class listening to your professor and wondered, “How would they do in a 3v3 basketball game right now?” On November 13, 2024, Lipscomb Social Club Alpha Delta helped answer this question. The club and its founding members hosted a basketball tournament where two students teamed up with a faculty member to face off against one of the six other participating teams. Games were played to 21 points and followed a single-elimination format until one team emerged victorious. The event offered more than just basketball. At the end of October, Lipscomb students geared up for a long-awaited week of spooky festivities – “Halloweek.” The campus’s residence halls put on different themed events, ranging from Elam Hall’s Yeehaw to High Rise’s Haunted Wednesday Nights We Eat. The many layers of Lipscomb Volleyball’s Meg Mersman
When many people think of Lipscomb senior Meg Mersman, they often see her as one of the leaders and faces of Lipscomb’s volleyball program over the past five seasons. They see a 6’2 middle blocker that is the reigning ASUN Conference Player of the Year. They see a former conference champion and a AVCA (America Volleyball Coaches Association) All-American Honorable mention. It’s a position that requires good leadership, decision-making, communication and setting up not just yourself, but your entire team in a position to succeed. Trading the saddle for a guitar, Zerita McAtee’s journey from outfitter’s daughter to aspiring rockstar takes root at Lipscomb University as she immerses herself in the community, honing her craft and finding her sound. Misuse of box system in dining hall causes managers to search for solution
In the last few years, the Lipscomb Dining Hall has taken on a number of innovations to enhance the dining experience. The green to-go boxes are one of them and are not only used by students, but faculty as well. While the program was originally designed for user convenience, it has recently taken a costly turn. Student and faculty misuse of the system by their lack of returning the boxes, heating them in powerful microwaves and returning them moldy has caused issues. The Cowboy Show is one of Lipscomb’s oldest traditions and celebrated its 45th anniversary on September 13. In 2020, Tau Phi sent the profits from ticket sales to Wreaths Across America (WAA). However, the impact of the pandemic led Tau Phi to a philanthropic shift. After a period of giving to different off-campus causes, they have decided to focus on serving veterans—specifically those on campus.
