The 150th Battle of the Boulevard

The Battle of the Boulevard is upon us once again. After last year, and the way it ended in such dramatic fashion, with Jacob Ognacevic hitting the game winner in the final seconds, the stakes are higher than ever.

This rivalry is iconic in college basketball. Two programs. One street. Lipscomb currently leads in the all time record with 77 wins while Belmont has 73

Last year was a battle for the ages. 16 lead changes throughout the whole game and some very clutch performances by multiple players. Trae Benham dropped in 22 points for the Bison’s collecting 7 rebounds as well. Also, Freshman Cade Thompson rattled in 15 points in his battle debut.

Since the last matchup was in Allen Arena, this years game will be held in the curb event center, home of the Belmont Bruins.

Lipscomb is coming into the game with a 6-3 record as of right now. They’re also white hot at home still staying undefeated after beating The University of Tennessee Chattanooga on November 29th. But obviously, this game is not home, so it will be very interesting to see how this Bisons team will perform in this one of a kind environment.

Cade Tyson Belmont is coming into this game at a solid 5-3 record winning their last 3 games. Their last victory was a landslide win against Northern Iowa, where they won 90-70.

The big story, however, is the health of Jacob Ognacevic. He hasn’t played one minute of floor time after injuring his knee very early on this season. Jacob had a great game last year and also hit the game winner which will forever be remembered in Battle of the Boulevard history. Nevertheless, the Bisons have been rolling on, winning some very big games in his absence and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

Get your tickets now. This truly is going to be a battle for the ages.
