Herd Media

Ben Barry is a junior sports media major at Lipscomb University in Nashville Tennessee. At Lipscomb, Ben is deeply involved within the community. He is an officer for his social club, co-manager for the Admissions Tour Team, a Student Alumni Ambassador and among other things, a staff member for Herd Media. Ben enjoys exercising, listening to music, and keeping up with the sports world.

    Impact 360 seeks to maximize not expand campus as enrollment increases 

    Lipscomb University has broken the record for biggest freshman class for the past three fall semesters, and the University hopes to continue that streak.  In August of 2022, the university unveiled its plan to keep itself on track in alignment with growth. You might see the words “Impact 360” on binders, posters, the Lipscomb website and more. Impact 360 is the name of this plan.  As total enrollment and undergraduate enrollment continue to climb it would seem physical expansion is imminent.     Security Lieutenant Edlao Finds Community and Faith on the Pickleball Court 

    The snap of pickleball paddles is not the first sound you’d associate with campus security, yet for Jacy Edlao, a respected Lipscomb security officer, it’s the sound of community, faith, and connection. Born in Hawaii and drawn to Tennessee by a divine call, it was on Lipscomb’s pickleball courts where Edlao’s passion for service found an unexpected yet fitting arena.  Edlao was born in Hawaii when he felt the Lord calling him to move to Tennessee.     Notable change to Lipscomb greek life

    A long-standing Lipscomb social club will retire their letters for the second time.   One girl’s social club Gamma Lambda will dissolve at the end of the semester, joining girl’s club Kappa Chi as the second club to disband this school year. Gamma Lambda will not participate in rush or take a pledge class this semester. Gamma Lambda and Kappa Chi were both founded in 1967.  At the heart of the Lipscomb community is a version of Greek Life.     Why the new MLB rule changes are good for Cubs baseball

    Republished from The Cubs Companion, March 2, 2023. One of my favorite ways to spend a summer afternoon is by taking in a baseball game. Every MLB season I try my best to make it out to the nearby ballparks as much as I can. If the Cubs are not playing in front of me at Wrigley Field, then I will be tuning in and watching on TV whenever possible.   However, watching the Cubs has become more difficult to do in recent seasons, in part because the games have gotten longer and slower.
