On the 25th anniversary of the national tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, Lipscomb University created a whole-day program to honor the lives lost on the day. The memorial began with an opening ceremony directed by Lipscomb’s Director of Veteran Services Samuel Lynn. The ceremony included a performance of “God Bless America” by Lipscomb’s Concert Choir.  Available during the day were posters displaying the history of 9/11. Change-maker, advocate, and inspiration–these are just a few of the words Lipscomb students use to describe Dolly Parton. Tuesday, news of Parton’s passing spread across campus. shocking students. From fashion students inspired by her outfits, to music arts majors who learned about country music from her, Parton played a huge role in the lives of Lipscomb students.  Parton had a special place in the hearts of students and professors.
