Students and staff remember 9/11 25 years after tragedy
On the 25th anniversary of the national tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, Lipscomb University created a whole-day program to honor the lives lost on the day.
The memorial began with an opening ceremony directed by Lipscomb’s Director of Veteran Services Samuel Lynn. The ceremony included a performance of “God Bless America” by Lipscomb’s Concert Choir.
Available during the day were posters displaying the history of 9/11. Students from the university and academy visited this exhibit, alongside President Candice McQueen and other staff members.
To honor those who served on 9/11, the university also hosted a blood drive Throughout the day, blood and plasma donations were accepted, which will save on those in need.
In Allen Arena, the univedersity hosted a stair climb. With a total of 26 laps up and down the stairs of the arena, the stair climb was meant to signify the 2,200 steps that first responders climbed inside the Twin Towers.
The documentaries were available to students at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. They provided students with a deeper understanding of the significance of 9/11.
The activities of the day served to remind students and staff alike to never forget 9/11.
