Lippy Lunatics live up to their name in the best way
Most would think that a heat spike pushing the temperature into the triple digits would stop most student sections at a sports game. But on the night of August 29, that was not the case for the Lippy Lunatics. As the Lipscomb Women’s Soccer team faced off against the Belmont Bruins for the historic Battle of the Boulevard, the Lippy Lunatics – Lipscomb’s student section – came out in force. Despite the temperature passing 100 degrees, the attendance nearly passed 600 as fans assembled to cheer on the Bisons. The Lippy Lunatics came ready, bringing drums, cowbells, Lipscomb flags and school-spirit-colored smoke bombs. Determined to bring and keep the energy,…

Full-court Faith: How AJ McGinnis is embracing change, growth through his walk with God
When many basketball fans see Bisons’ junior AJ McGinnis, they see a sharpshooting guard that has been one of the most dangerous scorers on the Lipscomb men’s basketball team this season. A spark-plug that provides instant energy to his team and contributed to a NCAA Tournament appearance as a freshman at UNC Greensboro. However, McGinnis’ story and value goes much deeper and much further than being able to put a ball in a hoop, and so did his growth over the offseason. After the Bisons’ victory against Alabama A&M on Nov. 18 2023, McGinnis spoke to media members about where the most growth that he saw over the offseason wasn’t…

The lineage of Lou: The long-standing history of the Lipscomb Bisons’ mascot
There’s many traditions to a sporting event that just wouldn’t feel the same if they weren’t there. Remember when there were no fans at the games during COVID? Even though the action on the field, court, or pitch remained the same, the atmosphere of these games was’t the same compared to what we are used to. There was no roaring crowd of students there to cheer on their team. No cheerleaders chanting “Let’s Go Bisons!” or performing during timeouts. And no energetic mascot roaming the arena to have fun with fans to help keep things entertaining in breaks of the action. The game-day experience just isn’t the same without a…

Bisons’ Trace Willhoite earns national recognition for 2023 after strong season in 2022
Hitting a baseball is a refined skill. It’s a skill that takes a mix of power, awareness, hand-eye coordination, and plate vision. For some, all of these attributes mix perfectly and with enough dedication and hard work can mold into a skill that can subsequently mold into a potential career. This is no different at the collegiate level, and there aren’t many better examples than Lipscomb’s Trace Willhoite. Willhoite, a sophomore third-baseman from Georgetown, Kentucky, was recently named to the watchlist for the 2023 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award. Introduced in 2017, the award is presented to a Division I player that exemplifies high-quality performance [specifically hitting], academic performance, and…

As senior night approaches, Ahsan Asadullah looks back on his growth and journey at Lipscomb
Since stepping onto Lipscomb’s campus as a freshman six years ago, Ahsan Asadullah has seen a lot in his time with Lipscomb Men’s Basketball. He has experienced an injury, a conference championship, postseason victories, a coaching change, a global pandemic, record-breaking accolades, and new teammates. When considering all of this, it wouldn’t be outlandish to say that Asadullah’s time at Lipscomb is one of the most unique careers that we have seen in the program’s long-standing history, and also one of the most storied. With Saturday’s Senior Night approaching, the Bisons’ star veteran talked about his journey at Lipscomb, the many things he has experienced in his career, and the…
