The smell of sage filled the house as Mom whisked the eggs for her famous Christmas Brunch. The kitchen buzzed with activity—my mom, aunt, and I cooking side by side, laughter bubbling up as we tasted and adjusted recipes. Campus carillonist Donna King rings students into post-grad life
The daily schedule of everyone on Lipscomb’s campus is guided by the bells of the Allen Tower. Each quarterly chime informs faculty, staff and students of the time of day. Although it is programmed to be this way, each time it rings is not always automatic. Lipscomb kicks off the holiday season with 19th annual Lighting of the Green
Lipscomb continued a popular community tradition Tuesday night with the 19th annual Lighting of the Green. Amy Grant made an appearance once again and led the event with “Tennessee Christmas,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Heirlooms” and “Emmanuel.” Lipscomb Academy and Lipscomb University choirs also performed on the stage outside of Allen Arena. “It’s another way to put Jesus into the Christmas season,” said Kalissa Finn, a Gospel Choir member. “That’s the main reason why I love bringing the Gospel Choir out here for the Lighting of the Green.” Inside Allen Arena was the Merry Marketplace, where local vendors set up shop to sell crafts and other wares. On Nov. 29, 2022, Lipscomb University and Academy Choirs were given the opportunity to perform alongside Amy Grant at the annual Lighting of the Green. The choirs took the stage to perform unique renditions of classic Christmas songs. Lipscomb’s “Gift to Nashville”
Lighting of the Green is an annual Lipscomb event marking the start of the Christmas season. It has been a popular tradition at Lipscomb for 18 years, extending its reach not only to those affiliated with Lipscomb but also citizens of the Nashville area. Lighting of the Green has always been a free event where all are welcomed with open arms. Lighting of the Green returns to kick off the holiday season
If you’re new to campus, there’s a special holiday tradition coming that you won’t want to miss. Lighting of the Green is an annual event here at Lipscomb, and it’s returning for its 18th year. Held on campus, Lighting of the Green features different festivities and a concert to share holiday cheer. Preparation has already began. From building the stage to stringing the lights, campus is almost ready for the special event.
