Lighting of the Green returns to kick off the holiday season
If you’re new to campus, there’s a special holiday tradition coming that you won’t want to miss. Lighting of the Green is an annual event here at Lipscomb, and it’s returning for its 18th year. Held on campus, Lighting of the Green features different festivities and a concert to share holiday cheer.
Preparation has already began. From building the stage to stringing the lights, campus is almost ready for the special event.
Merry Marketplace will take place in McQuiddy Gym starting at 4 p.m. with free pictures with Santa at 4:30 p.m. There will be a variety of vendors who donate a portion of their proceeds to Associated Women for Lipscomb scholarships.
A free concert will take place at 6 p.m. with performances by Amy Grant with surprise musical guests and Lipscomb’s own Sanctuary and Gospel Choir. Other choirs from Lipscomb Academy and Lipscomb University will also be performing.
Every year, thousands of people gather to experience a wonderful night of music put together by Amy Grant. A few notable past special guests have included Vince Gill, Cody Fry and Cece Winans.
The night will end with the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Coming together as a community to watch as Lipscomb’s campus becomes aglow with thousands of lights is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
Lighting of the Green will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29 and will be outside of Allen Arena. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.
