Holcomb shines, Vinson clutches: Lady Bisons defeat Jacksonville 85-82

Jalyn Holcomb delivered a standout performance to lead Lipscomb to a nail-biting 85-82 victory over Jacksonville at Allen Arena. Holcomb’s 27-point effort, thanks to six three-pointers, lifted the Bisons to their fourth ASUN win of the season.

Despite a late surge from Jacksonville, led by Jacksonville’s Edyn Battle’s impressive 31 points, Lipscomb’s balanced scoring and clutch free throws in the final moments sealed the win.

Holcomb reflected on the final moments with Will Blackmon on The Bison Radio.

“We knew that they were gonna push the ball at the end of the game We knew that
they were gonna come out and make some runs and I think that’s just the time at the end of the
game where people got to make some plays and that was a big time play about Bella. We didn’t
even call a trap and she just went and trapped it and got a big time play at the end of the game.”

Senior guard Bella Vinson, saved the game for the Bisons. The Dolphins took the lead 82-81 with 25 seconds to go. Vinson nailed a total of 4 free throws to win it 85-82.

For Holcomb, tonight’s performance was a bit of confidence booster.

“I haven’t really been hitting shots lately. So, that was just nice to feel it in this game. I think my teammates were getting me some good shots. They were getting me some great open shots. Ainhoa, she’s a great playmaker. Some other people on our team like Claire is a great playmaker and I think that we got a lot of great shots for a lot of great people tonight,” Holcomb concluded.

The Lady Bisons will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to face Queens on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1:00 PM. Checkout all of Herd Media’s coverage of Lipscomb Athletics live on The Bison Radio and @medialipscomb on Instagram.
