Bridging the Gap: Black and African students discuss issues involving love in their communities
On Feb. 13, the leaders of the Black Student Association (BSA) and African Student Association (ASA) led a panel discussion addressing the issues of love in their communities and the world. Anonymous questions appeared on the board to be answered by the panelists, one of whom was Dean Holmes of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, who weighed in with advice based on his experience with matured love. Lipscomb students celebrate Lunar New Year with authentic Chinese cuisine
The Asian Connection, also known as “A-CON,” collaborated with Lipscomb’s Honors College to kick off the Year of the Dragon on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Edmund Zhu partnered with Sydni Caldwell, program coordinator of the Honors College, to draw communities on campus together through a Chinese meal. The room was adorned with Chinese decorations suspended from the ceiling and hanging from the walls. Lunar New Year, which is commonly known as “Chinese New Year,” falls on a different date each year. 2024 is the Year of the Wood Dragon, beginning on Feb. 20. Volleyball season comes to an end
The volleyball team at Lipscomb Academy celebrates a season of trials, achievements, and meaningful lessons as the volleyball season marks its end. Challenges With the volleyball team being 7-0 in the region and 20-6 for the season, volleyball coach Jake House says that her players are setting the bar higher and higher every year. Lipscomb Hosts Grandparents Day, Wynonna Judd Performs
Lipscomb hosted their annual Grandparents Day last Wednesday featuring one of Lipscomb’s famous Grandmothers, Wynnona Judd. The day consisted of performances, activities, and lunch with the Grandparents. Every year Lipscomb Academy hosts Grandparents Day for Lipscomb’s students and alumni. Grandparents are welcome to come for the day and attend a service in Allen Arena. It is a day students are able to share with their grandparents and show them what they do in their everyday life at school. SGA Revamps House System
Lipscomb Academy introduced the house system last year, but SGA President and Vice President, Jake Rosenthal and Caroline Jackson, along with Ms. Pearl, are captaining a revamp to the system. When meeting over the summer about how to make the system more sustainable, Pearl, Rosenthal, and Jackson crafted three goals for the houses. The first goal is that the system creates a sense of community for students, the second is that it creates some excitement about being at school, and the final one is that it creates mentorship opportunities for students.
