Lipscomb falls to FGCU in regular-season finale

A close game between the Lady Bisons and Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday night turned into the biggest Lipscomb loss of the women’s season. The Eagles won 101-59 in both teams’ final regular-season game. This was not how anyone expected the Lady Bisons’ final game of the season to go. FGCU (29-3, 17-1 in the ASUN) is No. 24 in the nation and enter the postseason first in the ASUN. The Lady Bisons (19-11, 13-5) are seeded third in the conference and have a first-round bye in the ASUN championship.  The Lady Bisons led the Eagles 25-20 by the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles would rally back tremendously…

Bisons beat UIC Flames in weekend series 2-1

Despite a slow start on Friday, the Lipscomb Bisons rounded out this weekend with a 2-1 series win against the University of Illinois Chicago Flames. Friday’s game did not go as expected. The game began with no runs for either the Flames or the Bisons in the first inning. UIC came close, loading the bases, but junior, left-handed starting pitcher Michael Dunkelberger struck out the next two batters and retired the side. In the top of the second, Flames redshirt sophomore outfielder AJ Henkle smacked a ball clear over the centerfield fence for a solo home run, giving them the lead in the game. The dinger was the only score…

Lipscomb by the numbers: Men’s basketball at Liberty

This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers heads back to an epic conference upset game – the Lipscomb Bison’s against the Liberty Flames. Beyond those numbers, the attendance at the game was a huge number: 3,587 students and fans packed into Allen. Compared to…

Lipscomb by the numbers: Baseball victories

This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers looks back at this past weekend, at Ken Dugan Field. On Friday the 17th, the Lipscomb Bisons baseball team faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the first time. The odds that the Bisons would beat the Irish were about twelve percent, some said. Despite the odds, the Bisons went on to beat the Irish, five runs to four. The Bisons played in not just 35 degrees – that felt like about 22 degrees until the sun finally came out about two hours into the game – but they played in snow. There were almost 650 fans in attendance, a great number…

Micro-home built by the Engineering Department is delivered

Micro-home being transported onto a trailer.

The Lipscomb Engineering Department shipped out its first-ever micro-home on January 21st.  After the horrendous flood in Waverly, Tennessee back in 2021, the town is still rebuilding. The deadly flood caused people to lose jobs and many people became homeless.  Green Street Church of Christ, a church that Lipscomb has partnered with for many years, has a micro-home community in partnership with various organizations that allow people who need transitory housing to live on their property. A micro-home is a structure that is typically 600 square feet or less with at least one window.  When Second Chance Ministries was looking for ways to serve the Waverly community, they heard about…

An inside look at Rush Week for Lipscomb

Rushing social clubs at Lipscomb University is a three-to-four week-long event. Full of excitement, nerves, and finding where they fit in. This year, two Herd Media staff members cover rush from both the male and female perspectives. Saxon Brown, a freshman journalism and new media major, is currently not rushing, while Emma DeVries, a freshman advertising major, is currently rushing. Saxon Brown For many freshmen arriving on campus provides the first opportunity to be fully independent. Though many of us long for that independence, we also seek out a sense of belonging. For some students, this is found through athletics, either at the NCAA level or on an intramural team.…
