The Lipscomb women’s soccer team’s historic season concluded Thursday afternoon with a 1-0 defeat to the No. 3-seeded Florida State University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. The lone goal of the tight contest game came in the 23rd minute from Florida State’s senior defender Heather Gilchrist, who scored into the top left corner of the net, assisted by sophomore midfielder Taylor Suarez. Lipscomb goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar recorded five critical saves in the defensive battle. Bisons stun No. 6 Mississippi State 1-0 in NCAA Tournament opener
The Lipscomb women’s soccer delivered a major upset in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, defeating the No. 6-seeded Mississippi State University 1-0 on Saturday night at the MSU Soccer Field. The lone goal of the first-round contest came in the 31st minute from captain junior midfielder Bella Carapazza, with the assist credited to sophomore midfielder Chloe lliff. Lipscomb sophomore goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar earned the shutout, securing the Bisons’ spot in the second round. Bisons off to face Bulldogs in NCAA Tournament
The Lipscomb women’s soccer team and their coaches, family and friends gathered in Allen Arena’s Hall of Fame room today to hear their place in the NCAA Tournament. Having won the ASUN Tournament just this Sunday, beating North Florida 3-0 to become back-to-back ASUN Champs, the Bisons won an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Selection Show would determine where that bid placed them, and what team they would play. Before the 2024-25 men’s basketball season started, if you’d asked senior forward Jacob Ognacevic what his goals were, he’d tell you three things: win the ASUN, make it to the NCAA Tournament and pursue undeniability. Now, at the end of the season, Ognacevic has done all three and then some. An ASUN Championship victory has been something the Wisconsin native has been aiming for throughout his four year tenure at Lipscomb. Will Pruitt talks NCAA Tournament, future, team
Men’s basketball senior guard Will Pruitt has seen a lot during his time playing at Lipscomb University, but he’s stuck with the team through it all. The Lipscomb Bisons, who one week earlier had clinched the ASUN Tournament championship in Allen Arena, learned Sunday that they will play Iowa State on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The team returned to Allen Arena to view CBS’s Selection Sunday show and were surrounded by hundreds of students, family members and other fans filling every seat in the sections set up for the watch party. After their ASUN championship victory against FGCU on Sunday, the Lipscomb Bisons won the ASUN Tournament Championship and clinched an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. This will be the third time in program history that Lipscomb has made the NCAA Tournament and is the first time since 2015.
