Bisons fall to No. 3 Louisiana, historic 2026 season comes to an end at NCAA Regionals
Lipscomb baseball’s 2026 season ended Saturday with a 10-4 loss to No. 3 seed Louisiana in an elimination game at Dudy Noble Field.
The loss wrapped up the Bisons’ NCAA Regional run after they won the ASUN Championship to earn a berth in the tournament.
Louisiana took control early. Sophomore outfielder Mark Collins hit a two-run home run in the first inning against Lipscomb senior pitcher Jace Trautner, and the Ragin’ Cajuns added two more runs in the second on a two-out, two-run single from Collins to build a 4-0 lead.
Lipscomb answered in the top of the third. After junior utility player Hutson Miles drew a full-count walk, junior outfielder Jordan Thomas hit a two-run home run to center field to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Senior infielder player Damion Kenealy Jr. added a solo home run down the right-field line in the sixth to make it 8-3.
Lipscomb scored again in the seventh after Miles reached on an error and moved into scoring position. Thomas followed with an RBI single to left-center field to score Miles and trim the deficit to 8-4.
Thomas led the Bisons offensively, going 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Louisiana maintained control with help from walks and Lipscomb miscues. The Ragin’ Cajuns scored in the third, fourth and fifth innings before adding two unearned runs in the eighth on a bunt single, a throwing error and a sacrifice fly.
Lipscomb threatened no further in the ninth, and the loss brought their season to an end.
The Bisons finished 2026 with the ASUN Championship, the ASUN Gold Division title and an NCAA Regional appearance.
