The success of Lipscomb alum band has paved the way for new arts festival on campus
The Arcadian Wild has earned an impressive list of accomplishments since their formation in 2013. From charting on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart multiple times to playing at The Ryman Auditorium, the band has created quite the name for itself. Issac Horn, guitarist, and Lincoln Mick, mandolinist, first met at Lipscomb University where they bonded over a shared interest of Americana music. In 2020, they introduced Bailey Warren, fiddler, into the band full time. The Arcadian Wild now makes indie folk music but draws inspiration from other genres like country to pop and everything in between. Dolly Parton fashion exhibition sparkles on opening night
Glitz and glam took over Lipscomb University’s campus last week, as the “Dolly Parton & The Makers: My Life In Rhinestones” fashion exhibition opened in Beaman Library. The exhibition showcases 25 of Dolly’s most iconic looks, while also shining the spotlight on the many makers of these pieces. When you enter Iisha Lemming’s office in the CEA at the McFarland Science Center, a framed photo of legendary musician, businesswoman, and philanthropist Dolly Parton immediately captures your attention. For Lemming, this image is more than a tribute to an American icon. It’s a memento from her fifteen years working alongside Parton and a reminder of a cherished friendship. Before joining Lipscomb as an adjunct professor and artist-in-residence for the Fashion and Design department, Lemming served as Dolly Parton’s pattern maker, or draper.
