For 11 years, Lipscomb University has faithfully been the home of the GMA Dove Awards. Over the years, this spectacular event has drawn an array of artists, actors, influencers and writers together in one space– united under one God for the same mission. The Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards filled Lipscomb’s Allen Arena with music and joy on Tuesday, October first. The theme was “Unite the Song.” Tauren Wells, hosting the Awards for his second consecutive year, said, “We are united by one God… singing one song, and though we may have different inflections and different tones, we all have one voice.” The atmosphere was electric throughout the entire event as friends reconnected, incredible artists took the stage, and awards were handed out. Familiar faces dominate 54th Annual Dove Awards
The GMA Dove Awards have made their way back to Nashville on Lipscomb’s campus for its 54th show. To no surprise, this show was jam-packed full of big names who took home prestigious awards. One familiar face who took home an award early on in the night was Toby Mac, who received Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for his album Life After Death. After Mac won the award, he made it known that this was his favorite. “I mean, winning this Dove for Life After Death is definitely the most special moment at my life at the Dove Awards,” Mac said. Winans, Wilson dominate at Doves
Lipscomb hosted the 53rd annual Dove Awards at Allen Arena Tuesday, welcoming the Gospel Music Association (GMA) and honoring its picks for the best Christian music and entertainment across various genres. Chris Tomlin and Erica Campbell were the hosts of GMA’s flagship event, while other stars such as TobyMac, Maverick City Music, and Phil Wickham graced the stage at Allen Arena during the performance.
