Misuse of box system in dining hall causes managers to search for solution
In the last few years, the Lipscomb Dining Hall has taken on a number of innovations to enhance the dining experience. The green to-go boxes are one of them and are not only used by students, but faculty as well. While the program was originally designed for user convenience, it has recently taken a costly turn. Student and faculty misuse of the system by their lack of returning the boxes, heating them in powerful microwaves and returning them moldy has caused issues. Many childhood dreams are never realized. For a lot of us they are outgrown, replaced by something else as we get older and discover new things. Some childhood dreams are dismissed as unrealistic or immature. But when a childhood dream does come true, it is all the sweeter for the years of wishing for it. And when that dream comes with deeper roots and meaning, its realization is powerful, as well. MNPS to demolish Stokes School, lease new building to Lipscomb
Lipscomb education majors soon will have access to a new development center, while Stokes School becomes a memory. Earlier this year, Metro Nashville Public Schools filed a demolition permit for the former Stokes Elementary School and installed a fence around it, which is MNPS property loaned to Lipscomb University for use as additional parking. The building “is no longer suitable for occupation or use,” said Sean Braisted, MNPS chief of communications and technology. “The permit is currently under review by the Metro Historic Zoning Commission.” Tim Walker, executive director of the Nashville Historical Commission, confirmed to Herd Media that the commission surveyed Stokes School and determined it to be a…

Willard Collins Auditorium was the place for song, dance, performance and storytelling on Saturday afternoon, as the third showing of the 61st annual Singarama event took place on Lipscomb University’s campus. Judging for the matinee show was focused on the Best Theme category, as the three acts each look to earn points for the overall sweepstakes. The matinee show was won by the 70s era’s performance, “Delta NaNaNa“, which was directed by Catherine Marshall & Lincoln Brown and was preformed by the Phi Sigma, Gamma Lambda and Sigma Iota Delta social clubs, as well as friends. The aroma of burning wood filled the square. Three fire pits stood by the fountain, waiting for the rush of students who were returning from worship night in Shamblin Theater. Not far from them was a table that was set with ingredients and tools for s’mores.
