Herd Media

Forrest Maners is a senior sports media major from Jackson, Tennessee. He enjoys photography, video, and sports writing. Besides being a student, Forrest spends time as a student assistant for Lipscomb Baseball. Some of his best accomplishments come from being the Media Ministry Intern at his home church. He developed a broadcast system, podcast studio, and various types of social media content. Forrest hopes that someday he will be working for a professional sports team.

    Lady Bisons ready for new season with revamped strategy and strong returners 

    The Lady Bisons, under the leadership of head coach Lauren Sumski, are adjusting course with a new squad and strategy. Coach Sumski retains key players Bella Vinson, Claira McGowan and Ainhoa Cea. Jaylen Holcomb, who was out for the season due to injury last year, is returning for her final year of college basketball.   With the loss of Aleah Sorrentino, who led the team with rebounds, the Lady Bisons are missing a key player in the middle.     With key players and top rank, Bisons set sights on ASUN Title

    Lipscomb Men’s Basketball opened the 2024 campaign with a win against Duquesne in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Head coach Lennie Acuff brings back key players, Jacob Ognacevic and Will Pruitt as well as several newcomers. The Bisons have reloaded and are looking to move forward after falling short in the ASUN Tournament last year. Moving forward won’t be easy. The Preseason ASUN Coaches and Media polls have Lipscomb in the top spot.     Dining Revamp: Bison Café Refreshes Menu and Layout

    A major component to the Lipscomb experience is dining on campus. Entering the fall 2024 school year, students noticed a refresh of the Bison Cafe, also known as the Caf. While most food options remain the same this year, the largest change has been to the Bison Cafe. The Caf now features vibrant new signage, updated plates and utensils, and a revamped layout designed to improve traffic flow and dining experience.  Dining on campus has been a center point for several Lipscomb student leadership groups.     The Student Government Association is a key part of the Lipscomb leadership team.     Collins Auditorium buzzed with excitement as Singarama’s final night kicked off in style. Packed with talent and anticipation, the stage was set for an unforgettable evening of performances and awards.     Empowering service members: Leadership program earns Army Community Partnership Award 

    Nestled within the heart of Lipscomb University lies a beacon of empowerment, where service members from the Tennessee National Guard find not just education, but a pathway to leadership. Two years ago, Lipscomb’s College of Leadership and Public Service launched a program for Tennessee National Guard members. The first class graduated this past fall. The program’s goal is to help full-time and part-time service members in the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard receive a master’s degree. Thanks to the success of the partnership between Lipscomb and the Tennessee National Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters, Lipscomb won a 2023 Army Community Partnership Award.  Six editions of this award are given out to…

    Rethinking Higher Education: The Impact of a Four-Day Academic Week

    In 1926, Henry Ford initiated the transition from a 6-day work week to a 5-day week, aiming to enhance efficiency on assembly lines. Over time, this model became adopted worldwide, including in academic institutions. Lipscomb University’s standard schedule offers classes Monday-Friday, night and day.  The college of Business, however, has most of its classes on a four day a week schedule.
