Three-point barrage and bench brilliance: Lipscomb Lady Bisons dominate Johnson (Tenn.)
The Lady Bisons (6-3) dominated Johnson (Tenn)(7-6) 85-49 on a slow Sunday afternoon for the Lady Bisons. Three-point shooting, and bench depth were major factors in today’s victory.
It was over before it even started. The Lady Bisons dominated Johnson (Tenn.) from the start. The Royals could not defend Lipscomb’s 11 three pointers in the first half. This gave the Bisons the ability to go a little deeper into their roster than normal with 22 bench points in the first half. It wasn’t just offense that was clicking for Lipscomb. Defensively, they generated 21 points off Johnson’s 12 turnovers. They also out rebounded Johnson 22-11 in the first half.
The second half was copy and paste from the first, but Johnson found rhythm defensively. The Royals forced 19 turnovers. Fortunately, for the Bisons, only 12 points were scored off turnovers. Blythe Pearson, Olivia Vandergriff, and Taylor Bowen led Lipscomb with a combined 38 points. As a team the Bisons finished 32-74 from the field and 16-45 from three.
