Small, dedicated Lipscomb crowd fuels Bisons to ASUN Semifinals

On a chilly Thursday afternoon when classes and work kept the Lipscomb Soccer Complex stands sparse, with the official attendance of just 95, a dedicated group of fans supplied the necessary playoff atmosphere. The intensity paid off as the top-seeded Bisons shut out Queens, 2-0, in the ASUN Quarterfinals, earning a home spot in Sunday’s semifinals round. “It just means more,” said Lipscomb fan Sam Garret. “You’ve got a game where it’s actually, if you lose , it matters.” The low attendance was noticeable. The Lipscomb Soccer Complex was mostly quiet throughout the first half, a concession to the cold Oct. 30 weather and the fact that most students were…

Lipscomb volleyball wins conference match, eyes ASUN tournament

Lipscomb volleyball scored an important conference win on Sept. 26. The team swept the University of West Virginia, beating the Wolves in just three sets. After trading a few back-and-forth points, Lipscomb remained in the lead for most of set one. The team settled into a rhythm, communicating on the court, and cheering and chanting from the bench. An ace by junior outside hitter Ella Durham helped the Bisons win the first set 25-17. The second set was closer, with six lead changes between the Bisons and Wolves. West Virginia used multiple timeouts, but Lipscomb didn’t let it stop their momentum. Courtney Jones, the team’s senior outside hitter, led her…

Bisons continue perfect ASUN form in 5-0 win over Austin Peay

The defending ASUN champions secured a dominant 5-0 win over the Austin Peay Governors on Sunday. The massive win was in large part due to junior midfielder Bella Carapazza’s performance running the midfield. The captain scored one goal and one assist in the second half of the game. From the beginning, it was evident that Austin Peay was going to have a hard 90 minutes. They were suffocated in their half from the Bisons’ press, and they could not seem to build out into the Bisons’ half. The Bisons broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through freshman forward Skylar Cole but were held back for the rest of the…

Lipscomb soccer serves through sport in El Salvador

The Lipscomb women’s soccer team recently returned from a life-changing mission trip to El Salvador, where they used their love of the game to connect with local communities. Organized through Sport Outreach International (SOI), the trip gave players the chance to teach and play soccer with kids in underserved areas. While the language barrier posed some challenges, players found that the sport itself became a powerful tool for connection. “This one felt different because we got to play soccer and connect with them through sport,” said sophomore midfielder Neeley Geissinger. “I thought that was even more beautiful just because it is so hard with the language barrier.” The team rotated…
