Lipscomb by the numbers: SEJC victories
This edition of Lipscomb by the numbers follows nine students and one professor almost 600 miles to Troy University for a weekend in February. From Feb. 23-25, nine students went with Dr. McCollum to the Southeastern Journalism Conference to compete and represent Lipscomb. They also went to find out if any fellow students from Lipscomb had won any of the prestigious Best of the South awards. It was not a disappointing weekend. College of Engineering Rocket Car Rally: Two decades of rocket car racing
On Friday, Feb. 23, during Lipscomb’s Giving Week and National Engineers Week, the College of Engineering kicked off its annual “Rocket Car Rally” for students to compete in. The competition has been a long-standing College of Engineering tradition for about two decades and invites students of all years and various interests in STEM to compete. The preparation begins every year with students establishing their teams and being given a small wedge of wood [about eight inches by two inches wide] two weeks prior to the competition. Dolly Parton visits Lipscomb to preview “My Life in Rhinestones” fashion exhibit
Earlier this week, the iconic Dolly Parton visited Lipscomb University’s campus to get an advance look at the installation of her upcoming fashion exhibit “Dolly Parton and the Makers: My Life in Rhinestones”. According to a statement from Lipscomb’s vice president of communications and marketing, Kim Chaudoin, Parton was at the school for an interview with Norah O’Donnell from CBS News. The interview took place in Beaman Library, where the exhibit is being held. Parton’s interview with O’Donnell was about her upcoming book “Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones” as well as the “Dolly Parton and the Makers: My Life in Rhinestones” fashion exhibit that is being hosted on…

Does your phone ring in class? – FEMA testing the Emergency Alert System
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be partnering with the Federal Communications commission to conduct a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). There will be 2 parts of the test. The first part will be testing the Emergency Alert System, and the second part will test the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA). Both tests will begin at approximately 1:20 CT on Wednesday, Oct. 4th. What does this mean for you? The WEA portion of the test will send an alert to all cellular devices. Lipscomb baseball documentary wins prestigious Murrow Award
The eighteen minute and thirty-seven second video documentary captured more than just the story of the iconic Nashville Sounds’ scoreboard — it captured the cherished memories of players, coaches, and the people of Nashville. The Grand Ole Guitar is more than just any old scoreboard. As interviewee and former Sounds pitcher R.A. Dickey said in the video, “in my mind it’s the Nashville landmark. If I could put in my backyard, I would try, that’s how much I think it means to this city.” The Lipscomb University School of Communication team poured hundreds of hours into the video documentary project. Lipscomb Baseball’s NCAA Tournament path has been revealed; here’s everything you need to know
After their ASUN championship victory against FGCU on Sunday, the Lipscomb Bisons won the ASUN Tournament Championship and clinched an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. This will be the third time in program history that Lipscomb has made the NCAA Tournament and is the first time since 2015. Though the Bisons knew that their place in the tournament was secured, what they didn’t know was who they would be playing against or where. On what was a beautiful night for song and dance in Nashville, students, faculty, and other members of the Lipscomb community came together for the opening night of Lipscomb’s annual “Singarama” event. After months of commitment, preparation, and anticipation, students participating in the event were finally able to see all of their hard work come to fruition; performing in front of what was a packed crowd inside of Collins Alumni Auditorium.
