From France to Haiti: Kaïna Cesar’s story

Sophomore goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar‘s freshman debut at Lipscomb has taken her around not just around the United States, but around the world as well. Coming from Tours, France, Cesar began racking up minutes, starting in all 17 of the matches she appeared in and logging over 1,440 minutes in the goal. She has received accolades such as the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week – twice – and was nominated to the 2024 ASUN All-Freshman Team. Beyond that United States-based nomination, she was invited to play for the Haitian National Team. But before Cesar was playing alongside women who’d competed in previous World Cups, she was just a kid on a…

A look back at basketball with Jacob Ognacevic

Men’s basketball senior forward Jacob Ognacevic closed out his four-year career at Lipscomb University with an ASUN Championship ring and an offer from a Big Ten school. Both of these were the result of much hard work on the 6’8″ forward’s behalf. Ognacevic will start his next season of play as a University of Washington Husky. The team is currently in the middle of their summer training. Ognacevic will be keeping his number 41 as he starts playing for the Huskies. Herd Media’s Micah Barkley sat down with Ognacevic several times throughout the 2024-25 season as part of a series – pre-season, mid-season and post-season. (Click the links to read…

Lipscomb soccer serves through sport in El Salvador

The Lipscomb women’s soccer team recently returned from a life-changing mission trip to El Salvador, where they used their love of the game to connect with local communities. Organized through Sport Outreach International (SOI), the trip gave players the chance to teach and play soccer with kids in underserved areas. While the language barrier posed some challenges, players found that the sport itself became a powerful tool for connection. “This one felt different because we got to play soccer and connect with them through sport,” said sophomore midfielder Neeley Geissinger. “I thought that was even more beautiful just because it is so hard with the language barrier.” The team rotated…

Ognacevic rounds out season with two tournaments, one ring and one Big Ten opportunity

Before the 2024-25 men’s basketball season started, if you’d asked senior forward Jacob Ognacevic what his goals were, he’d tell you three things: win the ASUN, make it to the NCAA Tournament and pursue undeniability. Now, at the end of the season, Ognacevic has done all three and then some.  An ASUN Championship victory has been something the Wisconsin native has been aiming for throughout his four year tenure at Lipscomb. With the close of the 2024-25 basketball season, he was finally able to secure that ring. Not only that, but the Bisons made their way to the NCAA Tournament, playing against the Iowa State Cyclones in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Meanwhile,…
