This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers looks back at this past weekend, at Ken Dugan Field. On Friday the 17th, the Lipscomb Bisons baseball team faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the first time. The odds that the Bisons would beat the Irish were about twelve percent, some said. Despite the odds, the Bisons went on to beat the Irish, five runs to four. The Bisons played in not just 35 degrees – that felt like about 22 degrees until the sun finally came out about two hours into the game – but they played in snow. McGinnis game-winner at the buzzer saves senior night
In what could be the last time, seniors Ahsan Asadullah and Matthew Schner graced the Allen Arena floor in the battle between the Jacksonville Dolphins and Lipscomb Bisons. However, it would be the heroics of sophomore transfer guard A.J. McGinnis, nailing a right-wing bank shot buzzer-beater in the final seconds to give Lipscomb the 62-59 win. “I was just tryna get a shot up before the buzzer man,” said McGinnis. Since stepping onto Lipscomb’s campus as a freshman six years ago, Ahsan Asadullah has seen a lot in his time with Lipscomb Men’s Basketball. He has experienced an injury, a conference championship, postseason victories, a coaching change, a global pandemic, record-breaking accolades, and new teammates. When considering all of this, it wouldn’t be outlandish to say that Asadullah’s time at Lipscomb is one of the most unique careers that we have seen in the program’s long-standing history, and also one of the most storied. Softball season bound to begin with a bang
The moment until the Lipscomb Bisons Softball girls hit their first game balls is growing ever closer. Less than four hours remain until the team plays its first game. Herd Media was able to interview some of the team, getting their insights on the team chemistry and the upcoming season. Herd Media was also able to hear one of the freshmen's thoughts on joining a college team, and one of the upperclassmen's opinions on the new additions to the roster.

Men’s basketball takes down Liberty in thriller
As Will Pruitt’s late free throws rattled in and the Allen Arena crowd erupted Saturday night, it became clear. The Bisons had done it again. Lipscomb moved to 11-1 at home and once again showed it can win the big one in its 69-64 win over Liberty, the ASUN conference’s first-place team. “It was a lot of fun. I’m proud of our guys. I’m happy for our guys. The Dugan legacy continues
Will Dugan is a freshman right-handed pitcher with an incredible legacy sitting on his shoulders. The Dugan name is on several framed jerseys, cleats, and award plaques scattered around campus. It’s even on the baseball field itself. That’s no coincidence. His grandfather Ken Dugan is a Lipscomb baseball giant as both a player and a coach, a 1987 Lipscomb Hall of Fame inductee, 1991 Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame inductee and 2022 National College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee. The countdown to baseball season begins
The Lipscomb Bisons have been training hard during the offseason, and in early February they’ll have a chance to prove it. The 37-man roster features only five freshman and a large mix of upperclassmen. The team is dominated by juniors, with 16 on the roster; there are three graduate students, two fifth-years and one senior. Junior left-handed pitcher Logan Van Treeck said is excited for the upcoming season. “We lost some big pieces — seniors who got drafted or signed a pro ball contract,” Van Treeck said. “So coming into this season — man, we lost a lot of great dudes. Men’s Basketball shows upward trajectory in win over Bellarmine
Just over two weeks ago, Lipscomb sat in the basement of the ASUN, but as Lennie Acuff’s program enters the heart of league play it has plenty of reason for hope. The Bisons encountered a litmus test today and passed with flying colors in its 69-49 win over Bellarmine at Allen Arena. “At this time of year you’re obviously concerned with your record, but you’re more concerned with the direction you’re going and I think our trajectory is up,” Acuff said. Battle ends in defeat: a close game but a sad end
The Bisons were ready. They had a chance to take the Battle of the Boulevard win from the Belmont Bruins. And if they did, they would have beaten the Bruins in both men’s and women’s basketball, a miraculous year. The Bruins were ready too. They were not about to let the Bisons embarrass them again. The stage was set. The Battle was about to begin.
