Lipscomb track and field takes on Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt – a photo gallery
This past weekend, the Lipscomb track and field team headed to Vanderbilt to take part in their Music City Challenge. The team not only broke three program records, but they took three victories in the individual events, and had a total of 21 top-5 finishes. It’s safe to say that it was a very good weekend for the team. Herd Media was at the meet, and Herd Media photographer Stephen Scarboro took photos of many of the events. Lipscomb women’s golf makes history with first regionals trip
A historic Lipscomb moment happened on Wednesday as the Bisons women’s golf team awaited where they were headed for their first regionals trip. “I’m so honored to get to walk this out,” said interim head coach Shannon O’Brien with a smile. In what would serve as the pinnacle of a fantastic season, the ASUN champs would hear their name called in the last region announced. The announcement via a Golf Network feed revealed that the Bisons will travel to Westfield, Indiana, for their NCAA regionals debut. What next year’s Bisons squad consists of
One common theme throughout college athletics is the transfer portal. The portal allows athletes to hop around from school to school to compete in their desired sport. It makes things incredibly interesting as far as the dynamic of the team, how a coach will recruit, and even just new faces on the roster. Fortunately enough, the women’s basketball team will remain as a whole. Every player on the team from this past season will return, including seniors Blythe Pearson and Jalyn Holcomb, who will use their extra year of eligibility given to them because of Covid-19. Lipscomb by the numbers – Track and field
This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers looks back at the Bisons track and field teams, who traveled to compete in two invitationals this past weekend. The men’s and women’s teams went to both Lee University, to compete in the Flames Invitational, and to Ole Miss, to compete in the Joe Walker Invite. The Bisons hit a lot of wild numbers this weekend, including winning three overall events, smashing three program records, taking eighteen top-five finishes, and snagging a good number of personal records. Freshman Brady Yingst won two events at the Joe Walker Invite, including hitting a new personal record in the men’s 3,000m Steeple, with a time of 9:01.67.…

A wild weekend series – Lipscomb baseball versus Liberty photo gallery
This past weekend, the Lipscomb Bisons faced off against the Liberty Flames in a three-day baseball weekend series, March 31st through April 2nd. The Bisons beat the Flames in Friday’s game 2-1, they beat the Flames in Saturday’s game 8-7, and though they lost Sunday’s game 4-9 they won the series against the Flames, 2-1. This was the first time the Bisons had beat the Flames for a series win in program history. On Tuesday they picked up where the left off with #4 Vanderbilt, this time on their turf, after last weeks game was postponed. Lipscomb lost to Vanderbilt 1-11. They start their three-day series against Liberty on Friday. The Softball team lost the series against Jacksonville 0-3, as well as their mid week game against Chattanooga 1-3. Happy Monday! This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers will be taking a look at our baseball team. The Bisons baseball team has had a string of tough non-conference teams to play recently, leading to a series of very tough games. But you wouldn’t know that looking at our conference record, with the start of conference play two weekends ago. Those conference numbers are what we’ll be looking at today. Conference play began with an at home weekend series against Jacksonville from March 17th through March 19th. The new look Bisons
The Lipscomb Men’s basketball season just ended, and the Bisons will not look the same when the season starts next year. The Bisons only have two seniors, but unfortunately, they are two very important players who play a huge role at Lipscomb University. Matt Schner First is Matt Schner. Matt transferred to Lipscomb this year for his final season of college basketball. Matt had previously played at Emory University, a D3 school in Atlanta Georgia (that’s why he only has 1 year of stats on ESPN). If you want to see his Emory stats click here. Their Tuesday game against Vanderbilt was postponed to March 28 of next week, due to weather. This weekend, they will be in North Carolina for another three-day weekend series against Queens.
