Preview: A 2025 ASUN Final rematch in the Semis: No. 6 Bisons battle No. 2 Ospreys for Title game spot

For the Lipscomb women’s soccer team, the road to a historic postseason “three-peat” runs directly through the team they snatched the crown from just one year ago. Read about the game and the Bisons’ victory here.

On Sunday, Nov. 8, the No. 6 seed Bisons will step onto the pitch at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, to battle the No. 2 seed the University of North Florida Ospreys in the ASUN Championship Semifinals. It is a heavyweight matchup overflowing with history, revenge, and massive tournament stakes.

Last Year’s Final, This Year’s Semifinal

Sunday’s game is a rematch of the 2025 ASUN Championship Final, where Lipscomb defeated North Florida 3-0 to win the title.

This time around, the championship-level showdown arrives a round early. The Ospreys have been waiting an entire calendar year to avenge that painful finals loss, and they get to do it on their own home turf with a spot in the 2026 title game on the line.

How They Got Here: Bisons Show Champion DNA

Lipscomb punched its ticket to Sunday’s semifinal by showing the world exactly why they are the two-time reigning conference champions.

Facing No. 3 seed Bellarmine in Thursday’s First Round, the Bisons fell behind 1-0 in the 30th minute. Instead of panicking, first-year head coach Dr. Kathleen Paulsen’s squad responded like veterans. All-ASUN First Team junior midfielder Tatum Ahlemeyer took over the match, scoring an equalizer just two minutes later before burying the game-winner early in the second half to secure a 2-1 victory.

Breaking the Regular Season Stalemate

Beyond last year’s playoff history, Lipscomb has a fresh score to settle. Back on Sept. 27, the Bisons traveled to Jacksonville for regular-season play and suffered a tight, defensive 1-0 loss to North Florida.

The Ospreys enter Sunday after a first-round double-bye. Lipscomb enters as the lower seed, having won the championship in each of the last two seasons.

If Coach Paulsen can guide her squad to one more road execution on Sunday night, the Bisons will punch their ticket back to the ASUN Final, leaving them just one win away from completing the legendary triple-championship legacy.

Kickoff is set for Sunday, Nov. 8, at Hodges Stadium.
