Coming off a demanding three-match road trip, Lipscomb is eager to leverage its home field to break a three-game losing streak. Head Coach Charles Morrow acknowledged that maintaining momentum has been a challenge for his squad lately.

“Current rhythm has been a struggle,” Morrow said, “Consecutive losses will do that. The team has worked hard to prepare this week as we all feel this is a pivotal game.”

Defending the complex

Mid-October college soccer is about finding a tactical rhythm before the postseason push. For Lipscomb (3-8-1, 2-3-0 ASUN), that pivotal moment arrives this weekend. Returning to Nashville provides an opportunity for the squad to reset after a 3-0 loss at Florida Gulf Coast on Oct. 10.

Limiting opponent scoring opportunities is a primary objective for Morrow’s unit. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Alex Kara, anchors a backline focused on securing a clean sheet on home turf, particularly against a West Florida team relies heavily on dead-ball situations.

According to Morrow, the Argos’ primary strength lie in “set pieces and long throw-ins.”

“They haven’t scored a goal from the run of play since the first week of September,” Morrow said.

Scouting the Argos

The visiting West Florida Argos arrive in Nashville looking to improve their position in the league standings. Navigating their schedule as a new NCAA Division l affiliate member of the ASUN, the Argos have found it difficult to replicate their home success while traveling. UWF carries a winless 0-6-1 away record into the weekend.

West Florida (2-7-1, 2-3-0 ASUN) may also show a mix of fresh legs and competitive rust. Due to recent schedule disruptions, including a postponed match against Central Arkansas on Oct. 11, the Argos have not played a competitive game since a 1-0 road loss to Queens on Oct. 3.

Igniting the attack

If the Bisons want to walk away with a victory, they must capitalize on offensive spells early. In its last outing against FGCU, Lipscomb created numerous build-up sequences but struggled to find finishing quality in the final third.

Morrow emphasized that striking first will be a decisive tactical factor on Saturday night.

“Early goals change games,” Morrow said. “If we can get at West Florida early and prevent conceding early, we have a great chance to get a home results this weekend.”

Packing the stands

Beyond the tactical matchups on the pitch, Saturday represents one of the most visible home traditions of the fall semester. Fans and students are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer survivors and ongoing research initiatives.

Admission is free for students, and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
