Singarama 2025: A blockbuster tradition takes the stage

A lasting tradition of Lipscomb University is Singarama. This spring brings the 62nd annual student led musical to campus. Hundreds of students, alumni and family with gather in Collins Alumni Auditorium to watch students battle it out every night for the grand prize.

Landon Parrish talks about this year’s theme.

“It’s movie premiere. We’re bringing out three different genres of movies, it’s a
competition between three different shows. We’ve got a rom-com, we’ve got a superhero, and a murder mystery.”

Singarama 2025 is a collaboration between the Office of Student Life and the College of Entertainment and the Arts.

“So the inspiration, you know, it’s a collaboration. Singarama is with Student Life and the
College of Entertainment and the Arts, so this is our opportunity to really lean into the
incredible film program that we have at Lipscomb and to use their talents as well. So we will be
using faculty and staff members from the film department and then one unique part of this
show is you’re actually going to premiere a movie.”

To premier a movie you have to have a big screen according to Landon Parrish.

“This is gonna be the largest screen that’s ever been seen in Collins Auditorium, so we’re
building a video wall. It’s gonna be the biggest video wall you’ve ever seen on campus because
we want it’s, you know, it’s movie premiere and you can only premiere a movie on the biggest
screen possible. So they’ll be actually cutting and putting the video into their show.”

Singarama host, Anna Morris reflected on this year’s theme.

“I feel like in years past a lot of the songs that we’ve done have been songs across a long period
of time, ranging from songs that our great-grandparents and our grandparents listen to and
then songs that have just come out and what’s really cool about this year is it’s all songs that we
grew up on and so getting to bring back some life and energy and fun that we grew up on and
putting that into the show.”

Landon Parrish believes the biggest theme of Singarama, is the connections that are made amongst students.

“It connects so many different aspects of campus and it gives them something to remember and
for them to keep coming back to campus even after they graduate because obviously you’re a
student but you’re always going to be an alum and we want you to have a good memory that
you can come back to and support the future students and the future growth of Singarama.”

Singarama: Movie Premiere will run April 3-5 in Collins Alumni Auditorium.
