Election’s for the Student Government Association is under way. Lipscomb students will have the opportunity to vote for many different seats. SGA includes 4 Executive Officers and 28 Senators. Each class is represented by 7 elected officials: the class president, vice president, coordinator and 4 at-large senators.

No roles are as important as the SGA Executive Officers. Janeyah Anderson, the out-going president, has served on the team for 2 years now. Looking to take her place is Kasen Holt and Lydia Knobloch.

Both candidates have been involved with SGA in previous years. Herd Media will breakdown campaign to help students make an informed decision.

Kasen Holt

Kasen Holt is a senior Mechanical Engineering major from Manchester, Tennessee. Kasen has been involved with many organization including, SGA, mission trips, and the study abroad program.

“I’m running for student body president because Lipscomb and its community has given so
much to me, Holt said in the SGA online forum.

“I want to represent the school I love and have grown at so much. That’s why
I’m inviting you to join the race to SGA president with Kasen Holt.”

For Holt, R.A.C.E is at the center of her campaign.

“R.A.C.E stands for reliable, accessible, committed, and experienced, she explained.

“Reliability is one of my strongest qualities and is a key characteristic in a leader. I want you to
be able to trust in me to get tasks done and goals accomplished.”

“A is for accessible”, Holt continued.

“I want to make SGA more accessible to students and streamline our processes so we can better serve student clubs.

“Service is a core value of mine, and I am committed to serving you. I’m always looking for ways to serve and make a positive impact. I’ll do the same for Lipscomb students by listening to your needs and driving change.”

“And finally, E is for experienced. Serving on the SGA executive board this past year has given me invaluable insight into what it takes to lead in this position.”

According to Holt’s campaign, she is looking to implement a few projects including;

  • Dining dollars at The Well
  • Outlets in the square and Starbucks area
  • Airport shuttle bus system for holiday breaks

When asked about addressing the issues students may face, Holt had this to say.

“I really want to work on for SGA and to provide for our student body is just streamlining our processes within SGA to have clear documentation to communicate with clubs so then they’re able to get funding in an easier way and we’re just able to communicate the best way possible.”

Lydia Knobloch

Lydia Knobloch is a senior and has been involved with SGA since transferring to Lipscomb as a sophomore.

“Today’s campaign reflects the same themes and missions of my sophomore, senator, and
junior class campaigns,” Knobloch said in the SGA online forum.

“I want to continue to hear each student’s voice, to enact the changes this campus wants to see, and to boost student wellness and bring the student body together.”

Knobloch credited her efforts in securing a Stairmaster that is kept in the SAC as well as bringing in a Smith Machine.

Beyond student well-being she is pasisonate about other events.

“I’m also passionate about bringing the student body together through events and projects. From stuffed animals at Build-A-Buddy to jamming with the juniors in collaboration with student musicians, I love Lipscomb and am deeply passionate about this community.”

“A vote for Lydia Knobloch is a vote for a leader who will continue to listen, to get the job done,
and bring students together, Knobloch concluded.

When asked about addressing the issues students may face, Knobloch had this to say.

“We need people to really be making a change, and I feel like that is the big thing that SGA is able to
accomplish, is that we achieve people’s goals when they propose bills to us and they come to us with their concerns. So I think the overall encompassing issue is that we need people to come to us and know that we can help them.”

According to the Knobloch campaign on social media, there are a few projects she would like to implement.

  • More SGA Lippy Lunatics collaborations
  • Advocacy for commuters
  • Snack Machine in Beaman Library and additional in McFarland
