Jelldrik Dallmann appreciates the rewards from this year’s championship soccer season

Months ago, before the Lipscomb men’s soccer team played in the ASUN conference championship final, senior forward Jelldrik Dallmann of Kuhstedt, Germany, mentioned that his dream was to win a championship ring – and had been since he’d come to the United States. The Bisons went on to do just that – win the final game, take the title of ASUN champions and win their rings. On top of all of that, Dallmann was named the ASUN Player of the Year for the 2022 season. Once the championship rings made their way to Lipscomb’s campus, the team held a ceremony. That tangible reward was new to Dallmann. “They don’t have…

Three amazing adventure books for you to delve into

Republished from Barkley’s Book Recs, March 9, 2023. Adventure — fast-paced action, challenges, quests, battles and heroes. Quite literally… adventures.  I love adventure novels because they keep you invested the entire way with well-crafted stories and great characters. Plus, it’s hard to leave mid-adventure because you want to learn how it ends. Adventure novels can fall into or overlap several other genres, so some of these could also be considered “members” of other genres. But I’ll be highlighting them here. Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo I know I’ve already raved about Leigh Bardugo (see my fantasy books post where I talked about her trilogy Shadow and Bone), but I guess here…

Lipscomb by the numbers: the bookstore

Though there may be less Lipscomb by the numbers throughout the summer, as students are off campus and the numbers are therefore inherently less, there will still be a few here and there. This week takes us down to the basement of the Student Center, to our beloved bookstore. The Lipscomb campus bookstore offers everything from school spirit tee shirts and hoodies to notebooks and AirPods. Rachel Measell, the campus store manager, has helped provide some numbers from the bookstore. There are, naturally, a lot of numbers involved with the bookstore. This week will cover a lot of spring semester numbers. Those numbers may turn out to be higher than…

Lipscomb track and field takes on Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt – a photo gallery

This past weekend, the Lipscomb track and field team headed to Vanderbilt to take part in their Music City Challenge. The team not only broke three program records, but they took three victories in the individual events, and had a total of 21 top-5 finishes. It’s safe to say that it was a very good weekend for the team. Herd Media was at the meet, and Herd Media photographer Stephen Scarboro took photos of many of the events. Next, the team looks to the take on the outdoor track and field ASUN championship in Jacksonville, FL, from May 11-13th. For a recap of the meet, check out Lipscomb Athletics.

Three incredible classics for you to give a look

Republished from Barkley’s Book Recs, March 3, 2023. What crosses your mind when someone says the word “classics”? For me, it’s books like Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jane Eyre and Moby Dick. The classics are the books you hear about all the time, that you probably read in school at least once and that your parents or grandparents probably have on their bookshelf or somewhere in their house. They’re classics for a reason, though. They have stood the test of time, and they are ridiculously good. It’s hard for me to pick my top three books or series every post, but picking my top three classics was especially so. I…

Behind the curtain with Hello Darling — a band with origins as Lipscomb freshmen

You never know what might come out of Lipscomb’s music ensemble classes. The Nashville-based alternative folk band Hello Darling just happens to be one of those things. The band was born when a group of five musically talented people wound up thrown together in an ensemble as freshmen and discovered they all shared a passion for good music. Hello Darling comprises juniors Patrick Armould and Grace Russell, who share lead vocals; junior Amber Sawyer on bass; senior Riley O’Donnell on drums; and senior Noah Haggard on lead guitar. They come from different parts of the country and have different majors, musical tastes and backgrounds, but they found common ground through…

Lipscomb by the numbers – Track and field

This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers looks back at the Bisons track and field teams, who traveled to compete in two invitationals this past weekend. The men’s and women’s teams went to both Lee University, to compete in the Flames Invitational, and to Ole Miss, to compete in the Joe Walker Invite. The Bisons hit a lot of wild numbers this weekend, including winning three overall events, smashing three program records, taking eighteen top-five finishes, and snagging a good number of personal records. Freshman Brady Yingst won two events at the Joe Walker Invite, including hitting a new personal record in the men’s 3,000m Steeple, with a time of 9:01.67.…

A wild weekend series – Lipscomb baseball versus Liberty photo gallery

This past weekend, the Lipscomb Bisons faced off against the Liberty Flames in a three-day baseball weekend series, March 31st through April 2nd. The Bisons beat the Flames in Friday’s game 2-1, they beat the Flames in Saturday’s game 8-7, and though they lost Sunday’s game 4-9 they won the series against the Flames, 2-1. This was the first time the Bisons had beat the Flames for a series win in program history. The Bisons wore their pinstripe jerseys on Friday, their white jerseys on Saturday and their throwback Ken Dugan blues on Sunday. To see the full photos in the gallery, click on them to expand them. Lipscomb by the numbers – Registration

Registration – quite possibly one of the most stress-inducing words for a college student. And now… it’s upon us. Lipscomb by the numbers – Baseball

Happy Monday! This week’s Lipscomb by the numbers will be taking a look at our baseball team. The Bisons baseball team has had a string of tough non-conference teams to play recently, leading to a series of very tough games. But you wouldn’t know that looking at our conference record, with the start of conference play two weekends ago. Those conference numbers are what we’ll be looking at today. Conference play began with an at home weekend series against Jacksonville from March 17th through March 19th. The Bisons had a bit of a rough Friday game, losing to the Jacksonville Dolphins 2-6, however, they turned around to win the series…
