Scare in the Square offers students a spooky start to “Halloweek”

Every year, Lipscomb students go all out to celebrate Halloween during “Halloweek,” and the festivities include the iconic Scare in the Square.

People gather in costumes while social clubs and other organizations host tables with treats and games. Each table was themed, from Raditor Springs to The Lorax. Each was striving to win the best table award.

Hot chocolate and candy were handed out from the tables, and some events had games or mystery puzzles. While walking around the table, students could see scattered carved pumpkins that spelled out “Halloweek.”

The first event was live karaoke. Anyone was able to come up and sing in various musical genres. At one point, the entire women’s basketball team came up to sing and promote the Lippy Lunatics “Lights Out” event.

Then the costume contest began. After careful consideration, the four best costumes were left to the audience’s choice, and in the end, a biblically accurate Archangel costume took the win.

Throughout the event, students showcased the Halloween spirit on campus, from creative social clubs’ tables to costume contest winners.
