Department of Security releases 2026 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
At the end of September, the Lipscomb Department of Security released its 2026 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. The Report shows remarkably few instances of reported crime for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. Students see this as testimony to the Department of Security’s effectiveness.
“Students are thriving,” freshman Luke Nadeau said. “The security here is top-level, and seeing their presence around campus is comforting. Nashville is urban, so it has some criminal activity, but Lipscomb is situated in a relatively safe area, fortunately. … As a guy, I don’t really worry about safety very much; having sisters, I know this is a concern for many girls. Still, the security guard on campus is very accessible and competent.”
Sophomore Hannah Ryan similarly expressed appreciation for the university’s location, saying that, although campus visitors are a unique variable, she feels generally safe on campus, even at nighttime.
Kathy Hargis, Associate Vice President of Risk Management and Compliance, said that Lipscomb University stands apart from other institutions in its safety measures. Even if more topics were included in the report, Hargis said, Lipscomb would still be above average in comparison to other universities.
The Annual Fire and Safety Report contains not only statistics of incidents, but also instructions on how to contribute to a safe environment on campus through staying alert and reporting suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities. The 2026 report for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025 can be accessed below.
